With 54 seconds left in regulation, senior guard Thornton delivered a crucial three-point play to give ohio State a 67-65 advantage. Despite late opportunities, including promising looks from Langston Reynolds and Cade Tyson at the end of regulation, minnesota couldn’t convert. A potential uncalled goaltending against the Buckeyes on the final possession of regulation further fueled the Gophers’ frustration.
In overtime,Ohio State seized control. Thornton contributed six points, finishing with a game-total of 23, while John mobley Jr. led all scorers with 26 points. Minnesota’s challenges were compounded by the foul-out of Tyson with three minutes remaining in the extra period,leaving the team shorthanded.

Despite the loss, Jaylen Crocker-Johnson continued his notable scoring streak, reaching the 20-point mark for the third consecutive game and setting a new career-high with 26 points. Recognizing his struggles from beyond the arc, Crocker-Johnson aggressively drove to the basket throughout the second half, effectively compensating for his outside shooting difficulties.
