Following the case of a sub-inspector accepting potatoes as bribes in lieu of work in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, a similar​ incident has emerged ‌in Gorakhpur. In this case, a post in-charge demanded a bribe of 40,000 rupees to register a case.

The matter came to light when Shashikant Mishra, a resident of Hardiya,‍ approached Nausadh ⁣outpost in-charge Arun Singh with a complaint about a threatening history-sheeter.‍ Allegedly, Singh demanded the bribe from Mishra in exchange for registering ‍the case.
