In Sant’Egidio the evening of Catholic-Islamic dialogue ‘Let’s meet to get to know each other better’ with Don Luigino Scarponi of the parish of Sant’Egidio Abate and the imam of the Islamic center Mustafa Batzami: both read some passages from the Gospel and the Koran regarding the theme of prayer. The meeting opened with the notes of Morricone, performed by Giada Mancini. The evening was moderated by the lawyer Valeria Veramonti, also present was the mayor of Sant’Egidio Annunci Amatucci, and Nazzareno Quinzi, representative of the religious communities for the Prefecture of Ascoli and founder of the University for Peace in the Region. “A very important evening – Quinzi declared – every time we take a step towards dialogue we also take it towards peace”. For the occasion, the bishop of Ascoli Gianpiero Palmieri also spoke. The evening concluded with a prayer by St. Francis of Assisi and then continued with a moment of conviviality with Italian and Arabic culinary specialties.
