Government Ready to Discuss Manipur Issue in Upcoming Parliament Session

New Delhi – In an all-party meeting held today in Delhi, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahalad Joshi stated that the government is prepared to discuss various issues, including the Manipur issue. The meeting was convened in preparation for the Monsoon Session of Parliament, which is scheduled to commence tomorrow.

During the meeting, Minister Joshi emphasized the government’s willingness to address all matters permitted under the rules and as determined by the Speaker. He specifically mentioned the government’s readiness to address the frequent concerns raised by opposition parties regarding Manipur. Additionally, he announced that the government intends to introduce 32 bills during this session.

Notably, Minister Joshi also reiterated the government’s commitment to discuss all issues, including the Manipur issue, during the business advisory committee meeting conducted at the invitation of Speaker Om Birla.

In response, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh asserted that their party would prioritize raising the demand to discuss the Manipur issue in the upcoming parliamentary session. Ramesh expressed the intention to call upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi to explain the government’s strategy towards establishing peace in Manipur.

Ramesh further highlighted concerns about the central government’s alleged targeting of democratically elected state governments. He accused the central government, led by Modi, of attacking opposition-ruled states through gubernatorial appointments, emergency laws, and investigations conducted by central agencies.

The Congress General Secretary promised to raise the issue of multiple raids conducted at the residences of ministers in states like Tamil Nadu, as well as the alleged dismantling of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Maharashtra. Ramesh also criticized the government’s alleged misuse of central investigative agencies for political purposes.

In addition to these matters, the Congress party intends to question the rising prices of essential commodities. Despite the government’s claims of implementing measures to curb prices, Ramesh noted that prices continue to escalate. Moreover, the party plans to address the challenges faced by small businesses and the issue of job losses.

As the Monsoon Session of Parliament commences, all eyes will be on the discussions concerning Manipur and the overall agenda laid out by the government. The parliament session is expected to be a vital platform for the exchange of ideas and the formulation of policies to address the nation’s pressing issues.
