BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has alleged that the Awami League government has made it their daily program to send BNP leaders and activists to jail on false charges.
He said that some BNP executive committee member Habibur Rashid Habib, who was unjustly convicted in false, fabricated and politically motivated cases, appeared in court and applied for bail, but they were denied and sent to jail.
This was said by the Secretary General of BNP in a press release sent to the media on Thursday (April 18). He expressed deep concern over the sending of BNP leaders Habibur Rashid Habib, Maqsud Hussain and Mohammad Arif Hasan to jail without bail.
Mirza Fakhrul said, after the dummy and farcical election on January 7, the Awami ruling group has vigorously started inexplicable oppression and torture on the leaders and workers of opposition parties including BNP. The Awami fascist government is giving formal sentences to the courts by filing false and baseless cases to attack opposition parties and people of opinion nationwide in order to retain their illegal power. They have become reckless to jail by rejecting bail application.
He said that the purpose of oppressing the opposition leaders and activists is that the opposition parties of the country do not have the courage to protest against the arbitrary rule of the occupying Awami government. However, the defeat of the Awami ruling group must be accepted by the collective power of the people. The people are determined to root out the terrible misrule of Awami.
