Grammy Ceremony 2022: Zlanski Nam, Po Fighters won after drummer’s death

by time news

In the midst of the fighting against Russia, tonight (Sunday to Monday) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zalansky delivered an exciting speech at the Grammy Awards. “Help us in any way you can, but just not in silence,” the Ukrainian leader said in a video call in which millions watched.

“What is most opposed to music? The silence of ruined cities and dead people,” Zlansky told the American audience, emphasizing that many of the musicians in his country fought in battles against Russian soldiers. “Our musicians wear body armor instead of a tuxedo,” he said. “They sing to the wounded in hospitals. Even to those who do not hear them.”

After Zalanski’s speech, John Legend performed his song “Free”, starring Ukrainian singer Mika Newton and poet Yuva Yakimchuk, who fled Ukraine some time ago.

As you may recall, the Ukrainian leader’s advisers pressured him to attend last week’s Oscars, but the organizers did not agree to commit.

Apart from Zalanski’s speech, of course, the prizes were also awarded to the winners. The notable winner was the rock band Fu Fighters, which rake in three awards just a week after the untimely death of drummer Taylor Hawkins.

The Po Fighters have won the “Best Rock Album” award, the “Best Rock Song” award and the “Best Album Opening Track” award. The band was supposed to perform at the ceremony, but due to the tragic circumstances this was canceled. Instead, a clip was screened in Hawkins’ memory.

The big winners of the ceremony were “Silk Sonic”, the joint line-up of Bruno Mars and Anderson Puck, which won the two most important awards, “Recording of the Year” and “Song of the Year” on “Leave The Door Open”. Singer Olivia Rodrigo has won the “New Artist of the Year” award and the “Best Pop Song” award. Kenya West and Jay-Z won the “Best Rap Song” award for their song Jail.
