Reduction of emissions with consequent economic savings and identification of greater impact in the accommodation and transport categories: this is what emerges from the Green Film Research Lab, a study on the environmental and economic impact of cinematographic, audiovisual and digital productions in Italy presented today at Anica From Rome. At the basis of the project are the specifications and the ‘Green Film’ certification, a project developed in 2016 by the Trentino Film Commission to encourage eco-sustainable productions. The presentation was attended by the president of Anica Francesco Rutelli, the councilor for Education, University and Culture of the Autonomous Province of Trento, Mirko Bisesti, the director of the Trentino Film Commission, Luca Ferrario and the expert in life cycle analysis of Point 3 Luciano Vogli.
The application of the Green Film protocol would make it possible to reduce CO2 emissions by 96% compared to the use of energy from fossil fuels, through the use of renewable energies. The use of water from the water mains saves 97% of emissions compared to disposable plastic bottles and the elimination of communications in paper format 88% and separate waste collection 27%.
The application of the Green Film specification on the sets is also an economic advantage because, compared to a 2% increase in costs for the use of renewable energies, water not in plastic bottles costs 45% less and separate collection 54% less. Plus, not using paper eliminates the cost of material altogether.
