Grand Theft Auto 6 is set for release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Ahead of the launch, Rockstar Games released a 26-minute gameplay preview on Netflix, showcasing the open-world setting of Vice City and protagonists Lucia and Jason.
The upcoming entry in Rockstar Games’ franchise arrives as anticipation reaches a fever pitch across the gaming community. With less than three months remaining before the scheduled debut, the developer partnered with Netflix to release a 26-minute extended look at the title, offering an extensive glimpse into the criminal underworld of Vice City.
Inside the 26-Minute Gameplay Reveal
The extended footage, which also streamed on YouTube, bypassed behind-the-scenes documentary interviews in favor of raw gameplay. Players got an extensive look at the open-world environment, ranging from sun-drenched Miami-inspired locales to high-stakes action sequences. The narrative centers on Lucia and Jason, a romantic duo working their way up the criminal hierarchy in a modern-day retelling of a Bonnie-and-Clyde style saga.
The preview showcased franchise staples, including high-speed car chases with police in hot pursuit, bank robberies, and detailed character interactions. While leaks earlier in the week created a turbulent period for the studio, the official gameplay broadcast demonstrated polished environments and character animations.
Platform Details Confirmed
As release details solidify, the launch has come into focus. The title launches for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Why Another Delay Would Spell Disaster
Maintaining momentum for a project of this magnitude requires precise timing. Former Rockstar employee Mike York weighed in on the development cycle, noting that the studio’s extensive polishing efforts are driving the final push toward release.
Mike York, former Rockstar employee, stated that knowing Rockstar Games and the people working there, one of the reasons for the delay in releasing GTA 6 was that they were trying to make it look as good as possible and were busy polishing elements, adding that he did not think they were entirely finished with the game given how much was at stake and how high everyone’s expectations were for it.
However, he warned that any further setbacks would carry severe consequences for public interest.
Mike York, former Rockstar employee, also stated that people had already been waiting so long for GTA 6 that another delay would likely cause them to care even less about its release, warning that if Rockstar Games delayed GTA 6 again, the hype surrounding the game would die down almost completely because everyone knew there was no news and nothing to talk about, noting that there is a point where delaying something so much ultimately makes people angry.
