The Superintendency of Banks of Guatemala ―SIB― has confirmed that the Guatemalan banks will be closed on May 1due to the celebration of Labor Daya day that recognizes and honors the work of Guatemalan workers.
Through a statement shared on its social networks on Friday, April 26, the institution indicated that the Monetary Board authorized this measure to the following institutions:
- Banks
- Banking agencies
- Insurance companies
- Exchange houses
- Branch offices
- Financial companies
- Storage companies
- Microfinance
It should be noted that the closing was authorized for Wednesday, May 1 specifically, so you will have the afternoon of April 30 available to carry out any transaction, always observing the policies of each financial institution.
Special agencies that will be open during the holiday
Although the banks will remain closed, the institution indicated that the possibility of providing services through special agencies, special windows or other alternative means is at the discretion of each entity. This option will allow Guatemalans who need to make an urgent transaction to access certain services during the holiday.
The institution added that the list of banking agencies that will offer special services during the holiday will be available starting Tuesday, April 30 on the official website www.sib.got.gt.
