The Ates guerrilla movement attacked one of the main railway lines connecting Russia and the Donetsk region. Partisans reported on the sabotage of the railway, which the Russians use to transport military equipment and soldiers to Ukraine, on the Telegram social network, where they also published a video of the event.

“Our agent set fire to a relay box (a part of the security system, a device necessary for the safe operation of railways – editor’s note) on the Rostov-on-Don – Mariupol track. This time near the settlement of Shakhty,” the partisans wrote on Telegram.

Ateš also informed that the number of sabotage actions will increase. “Members of the Russian army should not relent even for a minute, our retribution for your criminal acts will be terrible,” the movement said.

Earlier this month, the guerrillas, whose members include both Ukrainians and Russians, announced that one of them had blown up a railway line near the Russian city of Yekaterinburg, about 1,600 kilometers from Ukraine. The track was used to transport North Korean ammunition for the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

A spokesman for Ates told the Kyiv Post that the act of sabotage was carried out by a Russian agent working for the guerrilla movement, moreover, he refused to be rewarded because he works for ideological reasons. “We would like to remind again that explosions on railways will happen more often as long as ammunition is transported,” the guerrillas said.
