The Guinean Ministry of Justice demanded, on March 12, 2023, explanations for the arrest of two civil society activists. Abdoul Sako and Ismaël Diallo were arrested the day before for undisclosed reasons, then released. Both are part of organizations calling for a rapid return of civilians to the helm of this military-ruled country since September 2021.

The two civil society activists were arrested on March 11 by gendarmes and taken to the Central Directorate of Judicial Investigations of the National Gendarmerie where they were interrogated for several hours before being handed over to their lawyer, even it’s up to him to bring them back this Monday to the same place.
Observers believe that these arrests risk jeopardizing an attempt to resume a broken dialogue between the opposition and the ruling junta.
