Died on Wednesday June 28, Hadja Rabiatou Sérah Diallo joined his last resting place in the cemetery of Kameroun on Friday June 30. Previously, a symposium was organized at the People’s Palace of Cona-cris to pay him a final tribute.

The populo mourns the disappearance of an icon of the Guinean trade union world, of the sub-region and of Africa. Rabi Sérah Diallo passed the weapon on the left to the Hosto de l’Amitié Sino-Guinéenne in the greatest discretion. On June 30, his biological and union families met in the Congress Hall of the People’s Palace to bid him a final farewell. The symposium brought together parents, friends, collaborators, former and current ministers, civil society activists, political dealers and other anonymous people. It was chaired by the Prime Minister, Nanard Goumou, who paid tribute “to a symbol, to a voice that has resounded in the four corners of the world. We pay tribute to an unwavering determination, a commitment, a driving force of the social movement and the Guinean trade union. She carried, at a period of life in our history, the torch of hope”. Nanard Goumou also recalled the struggle that the deceased waged for Guinean workers to emerge from precariousness: “We keep from her the image of a patriotic, courageous woman, committed to defending just causes in the name of freedom and human rights. The position of Secretary General of the largest trade union center for civil servants in our country, which she brilliantly assured before the presidency of the National Council of the Transition in 2010 and of the Economic and Social Council, allowed her compatriots to discover the greatness of acts and the highly social performance of this lady with an exceptional career.

The Rabi Serah is the first nanny to lead a union organization as powerful as the CNTG. After eleven years of reign at the head of this central trade union. She landed at the presidency of the National Council of the Chaud-NDD version transition from 2010-2013. A feat, according to Maïmouna Youmbouno, vice-president of the CNT version Dansa Courroux-mât: weaned from their comrade, from their sister. On behalf of the national adviser members, we pay you a deserved tribute for all the services rendered, in particular the 2010 Constitution that you had to validate”.

For her family, the Rabi Serah, had only Guinea as a concern: “She served this country with abnegation and competence, which earned her the confidence of Africa. This is why she was the first woman secretary general of the largest trade union center in Guinea. Go in peace! Mom, worthy woman!”, testifies Ibrahim Henry Faques, one of her sons.

The former president of the Social Economic Council leaves behind a trade union movement that is struggling to speak with one voice. Thierno Maadjou Diallo calls on his comrades to perpetuate the achievements: “The workers of Guinea are today weaned from their comrade, their sister, their leader who is affectionately called, the mother of the workers. It is up to us, the Guinean working class, to judiciously perpetuate its gains and always keep the place of the trade union movement high”.

Rabiatou Sérah Diallo particularly distinguished herself during the social movements between 2006 and 2007. She, with the late Ibrahima Fofana, stood up to the power of the day by leading a general and unlimited strike for weeks. She was even arrested on January 22, 2007. The ire of the strikers rose crescendo. President Fory Coco gives in to pressure and appoints a consensus prime minister, Lansana, who has turned out to be a Kou-failure.

Rabi Sérah Diallo was 73 years old, she leaves behind six children and now rests in the cemetery of Kameroun.
