Gujarat Elections: First Phase Voting Begins!- Dinamani

Voting in the first phase of the Gujarat assembly polls is underway with tight security.

Voting in 89 constituencies in 19 districts of South Gujarat and Kerala-Kutch region will be held till 5 pm today.

In the first phase of polling, a total of 788 candidates, including 70 women, are in the fray. His fate will be decided by 2.39 crore voters. Out of this, 1.24 crore males, 1.15 crore females and 497 third genders. 14,382 polling booths have been set up to facilitate their voting.

Candidates of BJP and Congress parties are in the field in all 89 constituencies. AAP is fielding in 88 constituencies. Candidates of Bahujan Samaj (57), Bharatiya Tribal Party (14), Marxist Communist Party (4) and 339 independents are in the contest. Aam Aadmi Party chief candidate Isudhan Gadvi, party state president Gopal Italia, cricketer Ravindra Jadeja’s wife Riva (BJP), 5-time BJP MLA Purusottam Solanki are the main candidates.

Gujarat, which has been the stronghold of the BJP for 27 years, has so far had a two-sided contest between the BJP and the Congress. This time Aam Aadmi Party is also clashing and a three-way contest has developed. Aam Aadmi Party has fielded its senior leaders to challenge the BJP in South Gujarat.

The second and final phase of voting for the remaining 93 constituencies in Gujarat, which has 182 assembly constituencies, will be held on Dec. It takes place on the 5th.
