Gujarat CM Inaugurates New Four-Lane Road to Boost Pilgrimage & Connectivity

A newly constructed four-lane road connecting the Jain pilgrimage site of Mahudi with Pilvai was inaugurated on Sunday, October 12, by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. The ₹20 crore project aims to significantly improve transportation for devotees and enhance regional connectivity between Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar and Vijapur. This development is part of a broader initiative to modernize Gujarat’s infrastructure.
Enhanced Access for Pilgrims and Commuters
The 4.45 km stretch is expected to alleviate traffic congestion, reduce travel times, and improve overall connectivity in the region. The upgraded route will particularly benefit the thousands of devotees who visit the Mahudi temple, especially with the upcoming Kali Chaudas festival during Diwali. “The wider road will not only improve transportation facilities for pilgrims but also help reduce fuel use and congestion on nearby highways,” a state government spokesperson stated.
Focus on Sustainable Infrastructure
The project’s completion within 10 months allowed for its timely inauguration ahead of the anticipated festive rush. The state government, under the direction of Chief Minister Patel, is prioritizing the construction of cement concrete roads to fortify the state’s road network and minimize damage from seasonal monsoon rains. The Mahudi-Pilvai road utilizes high-quality concrete, aligning with this commitment to sustainable infrastructure.
Part of Larger ‘Vikas Saptah’ Initiative
The inauguration was held during Vikas Saptah, a week-long celebration running from October 7 to 15. This event commemorates 24 years of governance and the commencement of the 25th year of “Service, Dedication and Good Governance” under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Multiple development projects are being launched across Gujarat throughout this period.
The Mahudi-Pilvai road represents a key component of the state’s ongoing efforts to improve road infrastructure and facilitate economic growth.
