Kuwait City: Expatriates who have obtained Kuwaiti driving licenses in Kuwait are advised to check whether they are complying with the conditions. Under Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Lt. Govt. General Sheikh Faisal Al Nawaf directed the Traffic Department. They are being checked to see if they are complying with the conditions set for issuing licenses to expatriates in the country.

According to local media reports, the inspection will be based on the expatriate’s salary, educational qualifications and exemptions allowed in terms of salary. The general requirement for expatriates to obtain a license is a monthly salary of 600 dinars. Licenses of expatriates found to be non-compliant with the criteria including salary, employment and educational qualifications will be revoked.

Those who have previously complied with the pay condition will have their driving license revoked even if their salary has been reduced after moving to a new job. Those who used to work as drivers will lose their licenses even if they change jobs. Notice that the license will be revoked even if those who have been granted exemption from salary conditions, including those who have worked in the media sector, have resigned from that job. The license will be renewed at the time of renewal and after such inspections.
