A fierce gun battle took place between the country’s military and a local rebel force in the city of Buchan in the southern province of Basilan in the Philippines.

In this, 3 soldiers and 4 members of the rebel forces were killed. More than 10 people were injured. The Philippine military said several other rebel fighters may have been injured in the attack.
