Grimstad police are investigating after reports of a possible gunshot during a car chase late Saturday night.
Car Chase leads to Suspicious Bangs, Police Inquiry

Police were alerted to the situation at 12:50 AM on Saturday, January 31st.According to operations manager Arve Johan Myklebust, the incident began with a vehicle refusing to comply with a police stop around 10:40 PM.
“There was no major collision, but he drove off and disappeared from the car,” Myklebust explained. “Then the patrol on the spot hears several bangs which they believe are shots.”
Authorities have as located the suspect inside a building in the area and currently have the situation under control. Myklebust emphasized that there is no danger to the public.
When asked about direct contact with the suspect, Myklebust stated, “We have barely been in contact, but not right now.”
Police have not yet confirmed the suspect’s identity, but they “have a strong guess as to who it is.”
Myklebust clarified that they cannot definitively confirm the sounds heard were gunshots. National emergency resources are assisting local police at the scene.
