Paltrow is being sued for no less than $300,000 by a retired optometrist, who claims the actress skied and “walked into him” from behind at the Deer Valley resort.

According to the lawsuit, he claims that he was left with a permanent traumatic brain injury, 4 broken ribs, pain, suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, along with emotional distress and body deformities, according to him.
“Paltrow got up, turned and skated away, leaving Sanderson stunned, lying in the snow, badly injured,” according to the complaint filed in 2019. Another of Sanderson’s claims indicates that a ski instructor in Deer Valley, who trained the actress, saw Sanderson’s crash but she ignored it and continued to ski.
The trial judge dismissed Sanderson’s original hit-and-run claim, and Deer Valley Resort and the guide were dropped from the suit. Paltrow claimed that Sanderson actually entered her and not her, and she claims she stayed around until she was given permission to leave by the Deer Valley ski guide. The 50-year-old actress also said that Sanderson had previously admitted that he had no clear memory of the accident. The star countersued, asking for symbolic damages of a single dollar and to cover her attorney’s fees. Paltrow’s trial will begin on March 21.
