Government Announces Widespread Personnel Changes Across Multiple Departments

A sweeping reshuffle of officials has been announced, impacting key positions in various government departments and regional offices.

  • Cho Hyun-jun has been appointed as the Director of the Balanced Progress Headquarters.
  • Numerous vice mayors and deputy governors have been reassigned across several cities and counties.

The government announced a series of appointments and reassignments on Tuesday, impacting a broad spectrum of departments and regional authorities. These changes, formalized through official telegrams, signal a strategic realignment of personnel aimed at bolstering efficiency and expertise across key sectors.

Leadership Shifts at the Headquarters Level

Leading the changes, Cho Hyun-jun will now serve as Director of the Balanced Development Headquarters. Lee Mi-hwa has been named Industry Bureau Director, while Kim In-soo will head the Economy and Trade Directorate. Further appointments include Park Hyun-sook,Song Jin-young,Kim Yong-man,and baek Sam-jong within the Human Resources Department.

Regional reassignments and New Vice Mayors

significant regional shifts have also taken place. Kim Tae-ho will serve as Vice Mayor of Busan, while Lee Jung-jae is the new Vice Mayor of Incheon. Park Sun-woo has been appointed Deputy Governor of Gyeonggi province, and Choi Ji-eun will assume the role of Deputy Governor of Gangwon Province. Additionally, Jung Woo-jin and Han Ji-min have been named Deputy Governors of North Chungcheong and South Gyeongsang Provinces, respectively.

Departmental Appointments and managerial Roles

Within specific departments, several key positions have been filled. Park Jong-min will head the Major Disaster Prevention Division. Moon Byeong-chun is the new Industrial Policy Division chief, and Lee Dong-hoon will lead the Aerospace Industry Division. Lee Myung-ju will head the International Trade Division,and Kim Jong-yeop will serve as Socioeconomic Labor Division Director. Lee Geun-sik is the new Chief of Staff, and Ryu Geum-joo will lead the Administrative Division.

Numerous managerial positions have also been filled, including Choi Soo-young, Kang Byeong-moon, Jeon Heon-jin, Lee Mi-ok, Lee Jin-hee, Bae Hyo-gil, Seo Eun-seok, and Kim Chang-hwan within the Human Resources Department.Baek Jong-cheol will serve as Cleaning Manager, and Kim Ok-nam as Educational Talent Manager. Hwang Pyeong-gil is the new Fisheries Resources Department Manager, and Hyeong-il Moon will lead Architecture. Yang-hee Kim will head the Housing Department, Jin-kyung Choi will lead Logistics and Airport Railroad, Eun-nam kim will head Culture and Arts, Yun-kyung Kim will lead Cultural Heritage, Jong-sik Kim will lead Sports Support, yu-mi Shim will lead Integrated Care, Eun-yeong Kang will lead medical Policy, iran-hye Lee will lead Infectious Disease Management, Jeong-je Yoo will lead food Hygiene, and Kim Soon-hee will lead the Public Institution Relocation Promotion Team.

Additional appointments include Kwak Ki-chul as head of the Agricultural Policy Division, Yong-deok kim as head of the agricultural and Food Distribution Division, Seung-hyo Koo as head of the Climate and Atmospheric Division, seo Young-mi as head of Water Quality Management, Seok-man Jeong as head of Water Resources, Seo Seo-kwon as head of Future Agricultural Education, Park Gil-seok as manager of the Agricultural Technology Institute, and Cho Yeo-moon as head of Human Resources Development Support. Kim Mi-sook will manage the Health and Surroundings Research Institute, and Park Jeong-hee will serve as Acting Director of the Fisheries safety Technology Institute. Park Ji-geun and Shin Ho-young have been appointed to lead Eastern and Western Road Management, respectively.Heo Jeong-seon, Kim Seon-ju, Hong Seong-ju, and Jang Deok-su have been dispatched from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and various free economic zones. Noh Hye-young, Dong-Jun Yoon, eun-Gu Jo, and Kim Hye-Jeong have been appointed within the Human Resources Department.
