Riyadh: The Halal Certificate has been made mandatory for meat food products marketed in Saudi Arabia. Halal certification is mandatory for all meat-related food products, including imported ones. Logos and Signs specified by Halal will not be considered for certification. Instead, only certified products from accredited halal agencies will be allowed in the country.

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority has said that halal certification is mandatory for food products, including meat products and their products. This applies to all local or imported food products. The authority has released a list of food products that require halal certification. Halal certification is also mandatory for food products such as animal rennet, animal oil and fat, which make gelatin, collagen and various types of cheese. The law will be strictly enforced from July 1, the authority said.
