A former US Army officer confirmed information that the leader of the terrorist organization Hamas, Yahya Sinwar, is using Israeli hostages as “human shields” to protect himself and his family.
This was reported by the news agency Sky News.
General Jack Keane, a former deputy chief of staff of the US Army, cited sources saying Hamas leader Sinwar has about 20 hostages constantly surrounding his family.
“My sources tell me that Sinwar, who is the leader of Hamas in Gaza, has 15-20 hostages protecting him and his family. That’s why they are holding these hostages to ensure their survival,” Keane said.
In light of this information, General Keane stated that “Israel is absolutely right to put military pressure on Hamas to secure the release of the hostages.”
As you know, this is not the first case of such reports: in February of this year, the Washington Post reported that the IDF claims that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar is still hiding in the tunnels under Khan Yunis and is “surrounded by a human shield of hostages intended to prevent the operation for his detention or liquidation.”
Earlier, Kursor wrote that the terrorist group Hamas is slow to respond to the proposal for a new deal to free the hostages, as it seeks a complete cessation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip. In addition, the head of the military wing of the organization, Yahya Sinwar, seeks to demonstrate “Israel’s weakness.”
