SC Magdeburg Extends Dominance in DAIKIN Men’s Handball Bundesliga

A commanding performance over four days, from February 20th to 23rd, saw nine matches contested in the 13th round of the 2025/26 DAIKIN Men’s Handball Bundesliga season across Germany, with SC Magdeburg further cementing its position at the league’s summit.

Magdeburg Maintains Unbeaten Streak

Leading the charge, SC Magdeburg has now gone an impressive 12 consecutive games without a loss. Their latest victory came against HSG Wetzlar, a decisive 33-20 win that reinforces their league leadership. The team boasts an outstanding record of 11 wins and 1 draw, establishing a significant gap between themselves and the competition. Conversely, Wetzlar’s performance has seen them drop to 16th place, with only 2 wins, 1 draw, and 9 losses.

Key Matchups and Standings Shifts

Several other pivotal matches unfolded during the round. SG Flensburg-Handewitt rebounded from a recent defeat against Magdeburg, securing a 35-32 victory over MT Melsungen. Flensburg remains a strong contender in second place, holding 10 wins, 2 draws, and 1 loss, totaling 22 points.

Füchse Berlin continued their winning momentum, defeating Rhein-Neckar Löwen 33-30 for their third consecutive win. This result keeps them firmly in third place with 10 wins and 3 losses (20 points). However, the same cannot be said for Rhein-Neckar Löwen, who have suffered three straight losses and have fallen to 10th place with a record of 5 wins, 2 draws, and 6 losses.

THW Kiel also secured a consecutive win, beating FRISCH AUF! Göppingen 34-30, and maintaining their fourth-place position with 9 wins, 2 draws, and 2 losses (20 points). They remain hot on the heels of the league leaders.

Lower Table Battles and Rising Teams

Further down the standings, VfL Gummersbach achieved their third consecutive victory, defeating SC DHfK Leipzig 34-27, and currently sit in 5th place with 9 wins, 1 draw, and 3 losses (19 points). Leipzig, unfortunately, finds themselves at the bottom of the table, in 18th place, with 2 draws and 11 losses after enduring three consecutive defeats.

TBV Lemgo Lippe also recorded two consecutive wins, defeating ThSV Eisenach 28-19, and now occupy 6th place with 9 wins, 1 draw, and 3 losses (19 points).

Hamburg (Handball Sport Verein Hamburg) broke a two-game losing streak with a 34-26 win against HC Erlangen, climbing to 9th place (6 wins, 1 draw, 6 losses). TSV Hannover-Burgdorf and TVB Stuttgart also saw improvements in their standings, moving up two places each to 11th and 15th respectively, after victories against Bergischer HC and GWD Minden. Stuttgart’s 35-26 win over Minden appears to be a turning point, potentially laying the groundwork for a climb out of the lower ranks.

The 2025/26 DAIKIN Men’s Handball Bundesliga season continues to deliver compelling action, with SC Magdeburg setting the pace and several teams battling for position in a highly competitive league.
