Handball: “Take no risk”, Nikola Karabatic’s message on his concussion

by time news

“See you soon on the courts”. The message is signed Nikola Karabatic on social networks. The PSG center half has been suffering from a concussion for more than a fortnight which keeps him away from the field. The former best player in the world has already missed the capital club’s last four matches in the Champions League against Porto (32-30) then in the Championship against Chambéry (36-32) and Aix (37-32), just like the round of 16 of the Coupe de France against Chambéry. “The club and I do not want to take any risks,” said the international tricolor in an Instagram story.

An uncertain return date?

“We are doing everything we can to recover. A new experience for me,” added the three-time Olympic champion. This is the first time in his career that he has suffered this type of injury, which would be due to a repetition of small shocks to the head. For several days, Nikola Karabatic suffered from “dizziness, headaches, and fatigue” as explained by our colleagues from The Team.

The 38-year-old French international nevertheless wanted to thank everyone for the “messages of support” he was able to receive. The PSG player remains “fully behind his teammates”, whom he hopes “to find as soon as possible on the ground”. His return date is currently uncertain, but he could be out for several weeks, and should miss the next league match against Chartres. His club, PSG, is currently tied for second on points with Nantes and Montpellier at the top of the standings.
