For the first time this season, defender Jules Koundé was not on the pitch for the entire match for FC Barcelona. It is thought that there are disciplinary reasons behind this.
Koundé was surprisingly missing from Barcelona’s starting line-up in the LaLiga leaders’ 3-0 win over Deportivo Alavés on Sunday. Coach Hansi Flick had previously announced that he did not want to rotate in the last game before the international break.
According to information from Sport Due to unpunctuality Koundé was left out of the starting line. The Frenchman arrived late for the pre-match team meeting.
Since it was already clear to Flick that he would not tolerate tardiness, he decided to leave the 25-year-old a proper retreat. The young Hector Fort (18th) started for Koundé. In the 67th minute, Flick finally brought Koundé into the game.
When asked about Koundé’s absence, the former national coach said succinctly after the match: “He was a substitute because he needed a break.”
