Performing at Madison Square Garden during his tour residency, Harry Styles debuted an unreleased acoustic song titled “What Is Enough” on the second anniversary of Liam Payne’s death, paying an emotional tribute to his former bandmate.
Standing under the stage lights in New York, the British singer opened up to the sold-out audience about the heavy toll of grief and the importance of supporting one another through hardship. The performance marked a poignant milestone for the artist as he honored his late colleague, who passed away two years prior.

I’m very lucky that I can perform here in New York, this venue means a lot to me.
Concertgoers described the acoustic debut as a deeply moving experience. Beyond sharing the unreleased track, Styles addressed the audience directly to emphasize communal support during times of personal loss.
One Direction Roots and Subsequent Solo Careers
The tribute falls precisely two years after Payne died in October 2024 following a fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Styles and Payne originally rose to global prominence as members of One Direction, alongside Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik, after the group formed on The X Factor in 2010.

Malik departed the lineup in 2015, and the remaining four members announced an indefinite hiatus the following year. Following the group’s hiatus, Styles launched a successful solo career in 2017 with his self-titled debut album, later earning multiple Grammy Awards—including Album of the Year for his third studio release, Harry’s House. Meanwhile, Payne pursued his own solo ventures, releasing his debut full-length album LP1 in 2019 alongside several hit singles before his death at age 31.
