A 40-year-old domestic worker was arrested in Hong Kong on Sunday after home surveillance footage allegedly captured her slapping an infant in her care three times over a two-hour window, according to police and local news reports.
The case came to light when the infant’s parents noticed their daughter crying continuously and suffering from a runny nose during the early hours of Sunday morning at a residential property on Chung Hau Street in Ho Man Tin. While preparing to take the child for medical care, the mother reviewed home closed-circuit television recordings and discovered the abuse.

It was subsequent to this conversation that the child’s mother checked the home camera system. The footage captured the domestic worker slapping the infant three separate times between 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.
Medical staff examined the infant and confirmed that she had no surface injuries and remained in stable condition.
