A Spanish press report said that there are harsh penalties awaiting Xavi Hernandez, the coach of Barcelona, after his exclusion from the quarter-finals of the Champions League, yesterday, Tuesday, following the loss (1-4) to Paris Saint-Germain.
The match saw Xavi sent off in the 56th minute of the match, due to his excessive excitement, but after the end of the match he decided to return to the field and reprimanded the match referee.
The Spanish newspaper “Sport” said: “Returning to the field and confronting the match referee specifically could lead to an increase in the sentencing penalty that Xavi received.”
The newspaper added, “The European Union Disciplinary Committee is very harsh in dealing with these types of procedures.”
The newspaper indicated that the penalty will not be announced in the coming days, and may be announced within two weeks.
