Police Respond to Reports of Gunfire
Shortly after 1 p.m. on Friday, officers responded to reports of gunfire in Hässelby, according to police spokesperson mats Eriksson. “Someone calls us and says they heard several shots. There are a lot of witness statements. It is supposed to be shots fired at a residence,” Eriksson stated shortly after the incident. Investigators found bullet holes in an apartment door and discovered spent shell casings at the scene.
A young man was quickly detained near the scene. Police spokesperson Ola Österling confirmed the suspect was apprehended “quite closely in both time and space” to the shooting, expressing confidence in the identification.
The Alleged Contract
According to information obtained by investigators, the 13-year-old, who had recently run away from a care home, was offered 250,000 Swedish krona (approximately $24,000 USD) to shoot a specific individual. If the intended target wasn’t home, the boy was allegedly instructed to shoot whoever answered the door, for a payment of 200,000 Swedish krona (roughly $19,000 USD).
The intended victim is believed to have connections to a criminal network. Police discovered encrypted messages on the boy’s phone detailing the alleged assassination plot. The investigation is ongoing,and authorities are not yet commenting on the age of the detained individual or whether anyone was inside the residence during the shooting.
