Havana Outreach to Distribute Fans to Seniors Amid Summer Heat
Providing critical relief during the warmer months, Blessings of Hope Empowerment Outreach will host a fan distribution event this Sunday for seniors in Havana, Florida. The organization, dedicated to community support, has been offering this vital service for the past six years, recognizing the increased vulnerability of older adults to heat-related illnesses.
Addressing a Critical Need
The distribution is exclusively for individuals aged 60 and older, and will operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Organizers emphasize the importance of keeping seniors cool during the summer, noting their heightened susceptibility to the dangers of extreme temperatures. “Seniors are more vulnerable during the summer,” a representative of the outreach stated.
Blessings of Hope Empowerment Outreach relies on the generosity of donations to fund its initiatives. According to Anissa Butler, an organizer with the group, the organization typically collects between 30 and 40 fans for distribution each year.
Event Details and Location
The fan distribution will take place on Sunday at the Carver Heights Senior Citizens Building, located at 705 Fourth Street SW in Havana. Distribution will begin promptly at 2 p.m. and continue while supplies last. Residents are encouraged to arrive early to ensure they have an opportunity to receive a fan.
