The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex rose over 1400 points to close above 60,000.

Stock markets have been buoyed in recent times by factors including Russia’s willingness to supply crude oil and natural gas to India at lower prices.

The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex rose by 472 points to close at 60,749 today.

The National Stock Exchange Nifty was up 394 points at 18,65. Its stake has risen more than ten per cent since it was announced that HDFC would merge with HDFC Bank.
