HDR10+ Technologies announced an expansion of its royalty-free gaming ecosystem on September 29, 2026, adding nearly ten new and recent titles. The update is headlined by Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, marking the fifth installment in the franchise to adopt the dynamic display standard.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and the New Franchise Wave
The inclusion of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 anchors the latest rollout from HDR10+ Technologies, which confirmed that the blockbuster shooter will support the high dynamic range system at launch. This commitment brings the franchise total to five titles utilizing the format. Industry analysts note that once a major series integrates the standard, expanding it to future entries requires minimal engineering effort because of deep compatibility built directly into modern game engines.
Alongside the Activision tentpole, the update incorporates a diverse mix of titles spanning major studios and independent developers. Pearl Abyss’s role-playing hit Crimson Desert and the F1 25 2026 Season Pack from Electronic Arts already feature the technology live. Meanwhile, Tarsier Studios recently enabled support for REANIMAL, and upcoming updates will bring the format to Madfinger Games’ Gray Zone Warfare and Frogwares’ The Sinking City 2.

Engine-Level Integration and Automatic Calibration for Displays
For players, the core advantage of the technology is automatic calibration. The system eliminates manual setup menus by letting games and compatible displays communicate in real time, instantly optimizing contrast, lighting, and color depth the moment a session begins.
HDR10+ Gaming is designed to a) help developers preserve their artistic vision across different displays, so that lighting colors, contrast and atmosphere are as faithfully reproduced as a display can manage, and b) save players from having to manually calibrate their displays for HDR, as the HDR10+ Gaming system automatically optimizes HDR properly for the HDR10+ Gaming display.

Underpinning this hardware performance is extensive engine-level support. Unreal Engine 5 integrates the standard via a dedicated plug-in, alongside widespread adoption across Electronic Arts’ Frostbite engine, Rockstar Games’ RAGE (Rockstar Advanced Game Engine), and CD Projekt Red’s REDengine. This infrastructure allows the royalty-free format to compete directly with proprietary alternatives like Dolby Vision without forcing developers to build custom calibration tools from scratch for every new platform.

Ecosystem Growth Across Hardware and Software Adopters
The broader ecosystem backing the standard continues to expand alongside these software releases. According to industry disclosures, the consortium now encompasses more than 180 corporate adopters and over 7,500 certified products worldwide, backed by major graphics processing unit manufacturers and Samsung hardware support. Sammobile notes that the HDR standard made its first appearance in a PC game back in 2023, five years after debuting.
New releases joining the ecosystem include 1001 Threads of Mizan, an Arabian fantasy action-adventure that serves as the debut title from MBC Game Studio following its unveiling at Gamescom, alongside AWAYSIS from 17-BIT. With Causal Loop also rounding out the current roster, HDR10+ Technologies expects to announce at least two additional compatible games imminently as the format transitions from occasional high-profile integrations to a steady release cadence.
