New Delhi: A man who took a room in a five-star hotel in Delhi claiming to be a UAE national and an employee of the royal family of Abu Dhabi drowned by falsifying his symptoms. M. D. Sharif, who stayed at the Leela Palace Hotel in Delhi for the last four months, defaulted on payment of Rs. 23.46 lakhs. Delhi Police has started an investigation for him.
The police informed that Sharif stayed at the five-star hotel from August 1 to November 20, 2022 and left without telling anyone. The police also informed that many valuable items were stolen from the hotel room where he was staying. On the complaint of the hotel authorities, the police registered a case against Sharif and started an investigation.

According to the complaint, Sharif told the hotel authorities that he was working in the UAE and was working in the office of Sheikh Falah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a member of the Abu Dhabi royal family. The hotel officials also stated that he has produced his business card, residence card in UAE and other documents. The police also informed that these are suspected to be fake. The police also said that he used to share many stories with the staff to establish his relationship with the royal family member.

The bill was Rs 35 lakh for the room Sharif stayed in and other things used. He paid Rs 11.5 lakh for hotel stay. A check of Rs 20 lakh was issued on November 20 but the check bounced due to insufficient funds in the account. The police are examining the CCTV footage to identify him.
