After a confident victory over Moscow Spartak, head coach of HC Siberia Andrei Martemyanov announced the upcoming changes in the team.
Defender Nikolai Demidov is leaving for Nizhny Novgorod’s Topedo, while striker Anton Shenfeld will come to us from Nizhny Novgorod.
“We got too much with the defenders, while our colleagues from Nizhny Novgorod, on the contrary, have a deficit. We need a striker, ”Andrei Martemyanov said.
The choice of the coach fell on Nikolai Demidov, which is not surprising at all. Surprisingly, rather different, that, despite the obvious and repeatedly expressed reluctance to play for Siberia, Demidov was still in the team. It was even amazing signing a game contract with him for the last season – the negotiations with the defender were so long and painful. But finally, the mutual torment of the hockey player and the club ended.
“I would like to wish Nikolai good luck in the new team, without injuries. Perhaps this exchange will just benefit him in terms of rebooting, after all, six years in the same team. We talked to him, he is not at all upset about the transfer to Torpedo, he needs to continue his career, so I hope he will succeed, ”Martemyanov said.
As for 28-year-old Schoenfeld, the benefit for Siberia from such an exchange seems ambiguous. Last season can be credited to him: in the regular season he played 55 matches for Nizhny Novgorod Torpedo, scored 27 points, scored 12 goals, the percentage of shots on goal realized was 10.8. However, things went wrong this season: 22 games on the ice and only one puck and four assists, an average of 1.6 shots on goal per game, and the percentage of shots realized was 2.8. Perhaps Martemyanov believes that Schoenfeld is simply “tired” of Torpedo and will return to his best form in a new place. And, perhaps, he thought that any striker would be better than an overweight, and even not the most effective defender.
