At the Ufa State Aviation Technical University, officers from the military education department of the personnel department of the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation and the leadership of more than 20 military training centers of the country’s universities gathered to share their experience and discuss updating the regulatory framework. The event was solemnly opened on October 4 and coincided with the day the first artificial Earth satellite was launched into space by Soviet scientists and, accordingly, the Day of the Space Forces of the Russian Federation. This was reported in the media communications department of the Ufa university.
The choice of the location for the instructor-methodological meeting is not accidental, because today the Ufa State Aviation Technical University is the only university in the Republic of Bashkortostan that trains personnel for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. As noted at the university, the military training center at USATU occupies a significant place in the structure of the university, being an educational base for future defenders of Russia, where knowledge and skills – from the level of engineering competence to adherence to military ethics – have served and serve as a reliable guide in life.
According to the rector of USATU Sergei Novikov, during the Great Patriotic War, the university was evacuated to Ufa together with the Rybinsk Motor Plant, therefore, the priority direction in the university has always been training of personnel for defense enterprises and organizations of the country.
– We regularly and systematically update the material and technical base of the Military Training Center. Thanks to the support of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, our fleet includes MiG-21, MiG-23, MiG-29, Su-27 aircraft, Mi-8MT, Mi-8T, Mi-2 helicopters. This year the Aeroport laboratory testing complex has been replenished with a Mi-24 fire support helicopter. An SU-34 aircraft is expected in the near future. At the meeting, the participants in the instructor-methodological meeting discussed the topical issue of military training in civilian universities, its differences and advantages. Indeed, with the formation of military training centers, various types of military training of students of civilian universities, such as: the military department, the military department, the military faculty and the military training center, were abolished. And now military training centers represent a single unified structure of military training. According to experts, thanks to the reform that eliminated the ten-year parallel operation of two structures (military departments and military training centers), it is much easier for applicants to plan their studies, depending on the form in which they will repay their debt to their homeland.
During the visit to the Ufa university, representatives of military training centers of higher educational institutions of Russia got acquainted with the material and technical base of the military training center at the USATU, the flight test complex “Airport” and attended practical classes of students. Also, the guests of the USATU were invited to a dinner prepared in the field kitchen by the cook of a military unit from the village of Alkino-2.
