Health Daspo against assaults, a bill and a petition – Health

“Those who attack doctors, nurses and healthcare workers do not deserve any protection from the National Health System”: the provocative proposal, a sort of health Daspo, comes from the Campania doctor Salvatore La Gatta, who from the change.org platform, following the attack that occurred at the Foggia Emergency Room, has decided to relaunch the battle to protect white coats.
“It is unacceptable that the State does nothing against individuals who do not hesitate to use violence against professionals who, with an immense spirit of sacrifice, continue to work in terrible conditions and without any form of protection”, reads the text that accompanies the request launched in the petition, a Daspo that, as happens for violent fans, removes from health facilities and therefore from the possibility of being taken care of by the national health service those who attack operators who at that moment are simply doing their job.
“We have gone from the applause from the balconies of the Covid era to the current slaps in the entrance halls – the doctor writes again -. A country that calls itself civilized protects its health professionals and does not protect those who know and use violence as the only form of behavior”. After the latest cases of attacks against health workers, Senator Ignazio Zullo, group leader of Fratelli d’Italia in the Labor and Health Commission, announced a few days ago that he had presented a bill, “without costs to the State”, which provides for “the suspension of free access to scheduled and elective care for three years for those who are the protagonists of attacks on health personnel or crimes against health assets. A sort of Daspo – explains Zullo himself – with all the differences of the case, declined in the health sector”. The objective, the parliamentarian explained, is to create “deterrence”.
