Ranchi: After Telangana, the heat of uploading and sharing fake videos made by tampering the speech of Union Home Minister Amit Shah on social media has now reached Jharkhand. Special Crime Branch of Delhi Police has sent a notice to Jharkhand Pradesh Congress President Rajesh Thakur. Thakur has been called to Delhi on Thursday (May 2, 2024). They have been asked to bring mobile and laptop with them. Earlier, Telangana CM Revanth Reddy was called by Delhi Police.

Notice to 17 people so far

Delhi Police is seen in action mode in Shah’s fake video case. Delhi Police had given notice to the first five people including Revanth Reddy. Now notice has been sent to 12 more people on Tuesday. All those to whom notices have been sent are opposition leaders. In this connection, notice has also been sent to Jharkhand Congress President Rajesh Thakur. In the notice, everyone has been asked to appear before the Special Investigation Officer of Delhi Police at 10.30 am on May 2. Police want to interrogate the people who have shared the video on social media platform ‘X’. The notice has been sent under section 160/91 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

Rajesh Thakur shrugged it off

Rajesh Thakur says that before sending the notice, the police should have found out whether the video had been shared through any of my instruments or not. I have not shared it. Giving notice like this at the time of elections is not a good thing. They are taking legal advice on whether they should appear on the notice or not. He says that BJP has got upset due to the two-phase voting trend. All this is happening with the intention of harassing the opposition leaders.
