The young woman, originally from Mulhouse, bathed with two friends in an unsupervised area of ​​Lake Achard in Illkirch-Graffenstaden, near Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin). She could not swim, the local channel believes.

Two of the three young girls could not swim. France 3 explains that they walked in the water away from the bank until they had water up to their necks. When they slipped, they panicked.

More than an hour of research by the firefighters

The one who could swim managed to save one of her two friends. The other young woman drowned and could not be found until an hour and a half later after a search. Nearly 30 firefighters were mobilized, including specialists in personal assistance in the aquatic environment, adds France Bleu.
