Heavy Rainfall Expected in Several Districts of Tamil Nadu for the Next 3 Days

Chennai – The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall in more than 10 districts of Tamil Nadu, including Madurai and Trichy, for the next three days. According to the Director of Chennai Meteorological Center, P. Senthamaraikannan, a low atmospheric circulation prevailing over Tamil Nadu is responsible for the upcoming weather conditions.

From today (Oct 9) until the 12th, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected in some areas of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. On the 13th and 14th, light to moderate rain may occur at one or two places.

On the previous day (Oct 8), heavy rainfall was recorded in several districts including Coimbatore hills, Nilgiris, Erode, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Tirupattur, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Salem, Namakkal, Trichy, Karur, Dindigul, Madurai, and Theni. However, for the upcoming 10th and 11th, heavy rainfall is expected in all above mentioned districts, except for Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, and Tirupur.

Chennai and its suburbs are forecasted to remain partly cloudy for the next 48 hours, with some areas experiencing thunder, lightning, and light to moderate rain. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 95 degrees Fahrenheit, while the minimum temperature will be around 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

As per the rainfall recorded in the 24-hour period ending at 8:30 am on the 8th of October, Egumalai in Madurai district received the highest rainfall with 10 cm. Paramakkudi in Ramanathapuram district, Tobacco station in Dindigul district, Vedasandur, and Choolagiri in Krishnagiri district, Chinnar Dam, Beraiyur in Madurai district, Walaja in Ranipet district, and Ammundi in Vellore district also reported notable rainfall.

The Meteorological Department urges residents in the affected districts to stay cautious and take necessary precautions during the heavy rain.
