On January 2, 2024, a 40-year-old resident of the city of Vanadzor reported to the police that on the same day she had an argument with her ex-husband over domestic issues at their home, after which the latter hit her with an ax, hands and feet.
Within the framework of the criminal proceedings initiated in the Lori Marz Investigation Department of the RA Investigative Committee regarding the incident, an inspection of the incident site was carried out, during which the ax, the apparent tool of the crime, was found and seized. The resident of Vanadzor was recognized as a victim.
“According to the preliminary data obtained during the investigation, it was found that the latter’s ex-husband, a 43-year-old man who has been convicted 9 times, had an argument with his ex-wife at their house in Vanadzor city under the influence of alcohol on January 2, around 3:00 p.m., and then took an ax from the bedroom. and with that he first hit the latter once on the chest, then with his head, hands, and legs on different parts of his body, causing a torn wound on the right side of the chest and physical injuries diagnosed as cranial trauma.
However, the crime did not come to an end, because the woman from Vanadzor ran away, and her daughter called the neighbors for help.
As a result of the urgent investigative and operational investigative measures, the 43-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of having committed a crime on the same day at 15:57 and was presented to the body conducting the proceedings.
Based on the factual data obtained during the preliminary investigation, a motion was submitted to the supervising prosecutor to initiate a public criminal prosecution against him, which was granted. The man was charged under Article 44-155, Part 2, Clause 9 of the RA Criminal Code (attempted murder by a close relative). A petition is submitted to the court regarding the selection of detention as a preventive measure against the man.
