According to a statement from Marvel Comics, Ultimate Endgame #1 will spin directly out of the Ultimates series and serve as the culmination of Ultimate Invasion. The narrative centers on the Maker, who has spent millennia preparing for his return after a barrier surrounding the City was finally breached.
A Vision Realized: Hickman Reflects on ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’
Jonathan Hickman, a key architect of the Ultimate line, shared his perspective on the creative process. “There’s certainly a thing to ‘the story changes in the telling’ that always happens on any of these projects,” he said. However, Hickman emphasized that the core concept of Ultimate Spider-Man has remained remarkably consistent. “But I will say that the throughline for Ultimate Spider-Man, you know, the point of the whole thing, the overarching idea, hasn’t changed a bit. I’m very happy with how the whole thing has come together, and if it lands the way I think it will, I believe that this will be a book that people will be reading for years. So, fingers crossed.”
Hickman also highlighted the collaborative spirit behind the project, praising the contributions of artists David Messina and Marco Checchetto. “Oh, the real kick here has been watching David [Messina] really grow as an artist throughout the whole experience and getting to watch a true pro like Marco [Checchetto] just knock it out of the park on every single page that’s come in over the last two years. Such an incredible job by these two gentlemen, and as always, I’m so grateful to have had the experience of working with them.”
‘Ultimate Endgame’ #1: A Universe on the Brink
Ultimate Endgame #1, written by Deniz Camp with art by Terry & Rachel Dodson and Jonas Scharf, depicts a world teetering on the edge of chaos. The official synopsis reveals a dual conflict: heroes uniting to confront the Maker, while the rest of the world descends into World War III. The stakes are universal – a game over for everyone if the Maker prevails.
