Three illegal immigrants and a quantity of contraband cigarettes were found in a truck with a seat, during a check carried out at the gate of the foreign port of Igoumenitsa, on Saturday evening, by officers of the Regional Drug Enforcement Team/K9 Team of the Port Authority of Igoumenitsa, with the assistance of the executives of the Security Office, as well as an employee of a private company providing security services of the port in Igoumenitsa.
The three foreigners, aged 18, 24 and 47, were found hidden inside the vehicle, while on the side walls of the tractor cabin, a total quantity of 658 cigarettes, which did not have the special consumption tax tape, was found hidden.
The Central Port Authority of Igoumenitsa, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, arrested the 30-year-old foreign driver of the truck and confiscated the truck with its occupants, as well as the found cigarettes, which are to be handed over to the Igoumenitsa Customs.
