Chennai: The Madras High Court has ordered a ban on the illegal publication of the upcoming film ‘Cobra’ starring actor Vikram.

Produced by SS Lalit Kumar of Seven Skirne Studios, Vikram starrer Cobra will hit theaters worldwide on Vinayagar Chaturthi on August 31. Former Indian cricket team player Irfan Pathan, KS Ravikumar, Srinidhi Shetty and others have acted in this film. Ajay Gnanamuthu has directed this movie with music composed by AR Rahman.

A case has been filed in the Madras High Court on behalf of the film’s production company, Seven Screen Studio, to ban the publication of this film on 1788 websites illegally by 29 government and private internet service companies.

The case came up for hearing today before Justice Senthilkumar Ramamurthy. Advocate Vijayan Subramanian appeared on behalf of the petitioner and argued, “Since this film is being released at a huge cost and after various protests, if the film is released on the websites by stealth, there will be a huge loss. This will affect the lives of the screen artists.”

Subsequently, the judge who heard the case ordered a ban on the illegal publication of the movie ‘Cobra’ on the internet.
