Kochi: The High Court has ordered an immediate decision on the stay issued by the Administrative Tribunal against the transfer order of higher secondary teachers in the state. The state government has to explain its side before the tribunal within 10 days regarding the change of venue. Based on this, the High Court has also stated that the Tribunal should decide the matter as soon as possible.

The state government’s demand to lift the tribunal’s stay was before the court. There will be a reason for the decision taken by the government regarding relocation. So it is not right to take a decision at this stage without hearing both sides in detail. Moreover, the division bench of Justices Muhammad Mushtaq, Shobha Annamma Eipan and others stated that it can be checked whether a decision in this regard will be before the tribunal.

Earlier, the tribunal had issued norms for transfer of higher secondary teachers. But the state government issued a general order regarding relocation. With this, a section of teachers approached the tribunal against the transfer. Then the tribunal stayed the government’s decision. A few teachers along with the government have approached the High Court seeking cancellation of this interim order of the Tribunal.
