Hilary Farr Debunks Viral Fake News About Her Health, Reveals Breast Cancer Remission

A fabricated report claiming HGTV star Hilary Farr was gravely ill has been swiftly debunked by the television personality herself. Farr, 74, addressed the false claims in a recent Instagram video, confirming she is a breast cancer survivor and currently in remission.

The inaccurate reports, which circulated widely, included a digitally altered image of Farr in a hospital bed with an oxygen mask, accompanied by a caption suggesting she might never appear on television again. Farr responded with a firm dismissal, stating, “Ta-da! I’m alive. Very, very, very much so alive and well, I’m happy to say.”

In the video, Farr expressed disbelief at the quality of the fabrication, labeling it “so badly done” and “crazy AI stuff.” She urged her followers not to take the reports seriously, emphasizing the blatant falsehoods presented.

Farr initially shared a health update in September, publicly revealing her status as a breast cancer survivor. She was first diagnosed with the illness in 2014 and underwent three lumpectomies and radiation treatment before achieving remission.

The incident comes after Farr announced her departure from the long-running HGTV show Love It or List It in 2023, following 19 seasons. She explained her decision to PEOPLE magazine, stating she wanted to prioritize finding “joy out of every day.” “I was in a rut,” Farr continued. “It’s been so many years. You want to feel that every day is something different and special and grasp for those challenges.”

Farr also highlighted the unwavering support of her former Love It or List It co-host, David Visentin, throughout her cancer journey. She noted that Visentin was a constant source of strength, and their friendship remains strong despite no longer working together.

Farr’s quick response to the misinformation serves as a potent reminder of the growing prevalence of fabricated content online and the importance of verifying information before accepting it as truth.
