The international gala Catalunya Dance Against Cancer, one of the highlights of the solidarity festival Girona in Motion in favor of the Oncolliga Foundation, will include hip-hop tracks for the first time. The closing gala of the contest will feature twenty national and international solo artistsfrom companies such as the Béjart Ballet Lausanne, the Hamburg Ballet, the Philadelphia Ballet, the Estonian National Ballet or the Basel Ballet, who will dance seventeen pieces of different styles.

Among the pieces stand out three world premieres by choreographers Kevin O’Day and Davidson Fariasand, for the first time, two hip-hop pieces performed by the duo Cooper & Voldoestablished in Switzerland and winner of several world championships in this type of dance.
The show, which will take place at the Teatre Municipal de Girona on July 16, will close four intense days of activity, with dance and well-being workshops, talks, screening of short films and a party in the Sala Platea with virtual reality and interactive activities, always around movement.
This year, in addition, some of the activities will focus on dance as a catalyst of social, cultural, linguistic or gender identities that coexist in our society.
On Tuesday 11 July, as a pre-activity of Girona en Moviment, you will be able to see the screening of the Belgian film Girldirected by Lukas Dhont and based on the story of Lara, a 15-year-old transgender girl who dreams of becoming a dancer, but will have to deal with hormone treatment and bullying from her schoolmates .
