“It is not a question of declaring victory too quickly”, assures Matthieu Lartot on Friday on his Instagram account. Last April, the former commentator for the France Rugby team announced a relapse of his knee cancer. For 25 years, the journalist has suffered from synovial sarcoma, a malignant tumor present in the joints. In April, his illness had forced him to withdraw from the sets of France Televisions.

Having just had his leg amputated, Matthieu Lartot donated social media news. “Straight ahead! he wrote on Instagram. “The road to rehabilitation began two weeks ago and morale is at the top! The amputation went well and the results of the anapath came in two days ago: they are excellent. The chemo worked and the operation did the rest. »

He keeps his spirits up. “In the meantime, I still have a lot of work to do to walk again, but I’m giving everything every day to get back to the best of my ability. You have to know how to take advantage of the little progress every day, step by step… This weekend, I will be able to enjoy my first leave to find the family at home after a month in the clinic and in the rehabilitation center,” he confides.

On Twitter, Matthieu Lartot is amused by the enthusiasm around his situation to deliver a little idea that runs through his head: “Given the generosity of the French, I should perhaps launch a kitty for my leg prostheses. The most sophisticated are at 100,000 euros, a trifle! »

The France Télévisions group is the co-broadcaster of the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France, which takes place from September 8 to October 28. Matthieu Lartot hopes to be able to attend the opening match as a supporter. Until then, he still has to take the time to acclimatize to his new mobility.
