French football international Aminata Diallo was indicted and imprisoned on Friday as part of the investigation into the attack on her former teammate at PSG, Kheira Hamraoui, said the Versailles prosecutor’s office.
New twist in the Hamraoui case. French international Aminata Diallo, indicted on Friday, September 16, like four other people for “aggravated violence” and “criminal association”, was placed in pre-trial detention, suspected of being the sponsor of the attack on her former teammate at PSG Kheira Hamraoui, against a backdrop of sporting rivalry.
“Madame Diallo wanted a deferred debate” before the judge of freedoms and detention, after her indictment, “and in the meantime she was temporarily imprisoned”, explained the Versailles prosecutor’s office in a press release.
The four other people prosecuted, born between 1999 and 2003, according to a source close to the file, were also indicted for “criminal association” and “aggravated violence”.
“All four implicate Mrs. Diallo (…) as being the sponsor of the violence, to allow her to occupy the position of the victim during future competitions”, explained the prosecution.
Among these four men, “three recognize their presence on the scene and indicate to know the reason for their recruitment and their presence. The fourth man admits having struck the victim”, specifies the parquet floor. Two were imprisoned and the other two placed under judicial control.
Sports rivalry?
After the aggression on November 4 of Kheira Hamraoui, 32 years old and 39 selections for the France team, the hypothesis of a rivalry between the two players of Paris SG, playing in the same midfield position, had been considered.
Aminata Diallo, who has seven selections for the France team, has always strongly contested being involved. In November 2021, she had already been placed in police custody, before coming out free, without charge against her.
According to the Versailles prosecutor’s office, there were “about eight hours” left to perform on this police custody started in November and legally limited to a total of 48 hours.
Arrested around 6 a.m. at her home on Friday, the 27-year-old player, without a club since the end of her contract with Paris Saint-Germain, remained in the premises of the Versailles judicial police until the beginning of the afternoon, when she was brought to the courthouse.
Contacted by AFP, his lawyer, Mourad Battikh, could not be reached immediately. According to a source familiar with the matter, Aminata Diallo “did not say much” in front of the investigators. “She did not acknowledge her participation (in the aggression, editor’s note) before quickly invoking her right to silence,” said this source.
Nocturnal aggression
On November 4, 2021, Kheira Hamraoui was attacked in Chatou (Yvelines) with an iron bar and beaten on the legs by two men, in front of Aminata Diallo, as they were returning by car from a team dinner. The player was then taken to the hospital to receive stitches.
“I experienced a real ambush. These individuals were waiting for me behind a truck. They were in the right place at the right time. How could they have been so well informed? ‘today,” she told the newspaper L’Équipe in June.
“We take note of the court decisions made today and in particular the indictment of Aminata Diallo and her placement in pre-trial detention”, reacted to AFP the lawyers of Kheira Hamraoui, My Julia Minkowski and Vincent Desry.
“We are going to take note and study the new elements collected by the investigators who have worked enormously to bring to light the truth about this lamentable attack which has had dramatic repercussions on our client for nine months”, they added, in a message. which they signed jointly.
This affair had completely destabilized the PSG locker room and had a negative impact on the sports performance of the two players.
Kheira Hamraoui’s relationship with several of her teammates, in particular Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Kadidiatou Diani, had deteriorated sharply, the latter reproaching her for the first police custody of Aminata Diallo.
In the spring, Kheira Hamraoui’s counsel had alerted PSG to “a campaign of harassment and denigration” led by several players against his client.
In a letter sent to the club, he accused Aminata Diallo of having, during the season, “arrested” Kheira Hamraoui’s bodyguard to “threaten” the latter or to have directly “insulted” her.
Under contract with the Parisian club until June 2023, Kheira Hamraoui has been kept away from the professional group since the start of the 2022-2023 season. A situation that she had noted by an usher during a training session last week.
The former Barcelonan “wants to honor the last year of her contract: she will remain in Paris this season”, insisted her entourage to AFP.
