Rafael Amargo has returned to the public scene. The artist attended a lawyer awards gala days ago where his former lawyer Cándido Conde-Pumpido received the award ‘Golden Robe Best Criminal Lawyer’. The last time the cameras captured the bailaor was at the gates of the Provincial Court of Madrid when he attended the first of his trials in which he has to answer for drug trafficking crimes that the investigators of the National Police.
The artist went on June 7 to testify but his trial had to be suspended. One of the defendants appeared without a lawyer and the magistrate decided the postponement. Rafael Amargo left the room visibly sad. “It’s been two and a half years that they haven’t even let me have my passport to go to work, what my fault is that I’m doing everything right and complying with what is asked of me.”
Almost two weeks later, the bailaor has reappeared at a gala dinner organized by the European Society for Social and Cultural Promotion. It was the first time that event was hosted by the journalist Jesús Álvarez. The Golden Robe Award, for the best criminal lawyer, went to Cándido Conde-Pumpido, Founding Partner and Director of the Conde-Pumpido & de Porres Abogados Law Firm.
Rafael Amargo’s presence at this event is explained because this lawyer represented the artist’s interests when he was first arrested by the National Police. He obtained the release of his client although with precautionary measures.

The artist was arrested a year later in Alicante in another investigation, also for drug trafficking. In the images of the lawyers’ gala, a Rafael Amargo could be seen looking better than the last time in the capital.
Among the guests were also Lara Dibildos, the journalist Albert Castillón, the actors Gary Doudan and Mateo Conde, or the former Real Madrid player Predrag Mijatović, among other familiar faces. The father of the winner, the president of the Constitutional Court, Cándido Conde-Pumpido, addressed his son with a “emotional letter read before the public by the presenter”.
