The carreer

The singer, the youngest of six children, grew up in Rome in the Prati district, immediately becoming passionate about music.

With the beat group I Noemi he wrote his first song, Una cosa stupidi. He then embarked on a solo career and in 1970 the Apollo label signed him. In 1973 he released his first album, Amedeo Minghi. Subsequently, he joined Pandemonium and released the song L’immenso, with which he reached the top of the international charts, selling 2 million records. Meanwhile, he continued to work as a composer for various artists. Subsequently, he published his second album in 1980, entitled Minghi and in 1983 he participated in the Sanremo Festival for the first time with the song 1950, but did not obtain great public approval.

After returning to Sanremo as a guest in 1985, he signed a contract with Fonit Cetra and from that moment his career of great successes began, reaching its peak in 1990 on the Ariston stage, when he sang with Mietta the song Vattene amore, which reached third position and won 10 platinum records. He then continued his activity as a songwriter and composer, also returning several times to Sanremo. In 2023, Amadeus invited him to participate in Arena Suzuki, where Minghi sang his hit Vattene amore with Mietta after 33 years. Wife and children

The singer married Elena Paladino on 13 October 1973. The couple had two daughters, Annesa and Alma. The singer’s wife died in 2014, after 40 years of marriage. In an interview with the weekly Diva e Donna, the singer-songwriter said: «Now I talk to her, I greet her, she is with me more than before. I’m a believer. Before, when she was alive, she didn’t come to all my concerts, now she’s always there. What do I miss about her? She remains alone, an immense loneliness, despite the fortune of having children and grandchildren. Bedroom. Sleeping alone is difficult, there’s always an eye looking beyond into space. At night waking up, turning around and going to caress someone who is no longer there. Death in sleep is the death of angels. For those who die it is the best. For those who live, the torment is great. In my case, it has no end. There is this suspended, incomprehensible and unacceptable thing. My daughters helped me a lot.”

Mourning

In an interview with Domenica Live in 2017, Amedeo Minghi and his daughters emotionally said that Elena Paladino was the pillar of the family. The singer added: «In the album I’m working on, Anima faded, there is a lot of me and her. I needed to grieve. If you don’t bring out what you feel inside, it rots. All the love songs I have written are dedicated to Elena.”
