Indoor: Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma has fallen into the pit of shame as one of his lucky grounds, the Holkar Stadium in Indore, did not help him this time. Rohit slipped to a bad record when he got out for zero in the third T20I against South Africa. Rohit is the first Indian player to get 10 wickets in T20 Internationals. In this regard, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli, who are behind Rohit Sharma, are far behind. Rahul was out five times and Kohli four times.
Rohit Sharma was bowled by star pacer Kagiso Rabada in Indore. Faced with two balls, the hitman failed to open his account. It is the 43rd time that Rohit Sharma has been dismissed with a single digit score in T20 cricket. With Rohit’s dismissal, Rabada also acquired a breaking record. Rabada joins New Zealand star pacer Tim Southee as the bowlers who have dismissed Rohit the most times in international cricket. Both of them dismissed Rohit 11 times each.
India lost the match by Rohit Sharma by 49 runs but won the series 2-1. Batting first after losing the toss, Riley Russo (100 off 48 balls), Quinton de Kock (68 off 43 balls) and David Miller (19* off 5 balls) scored 227 runs in 20 overs. Deepak Chahar and Umesh Yadav took one wicket each. In reply, the Indian innings ended at 178 runs in 18.3 overs.
While Rohit Sharma was out for zero, Shreyas Iyer for one, Rishabh Pant for 27 and Suryakumar Yadav for eight, Dinesh Karthik was India’s top scorer with 46 runs off 21 balls. At the tail end, Harshal Patel scored 17 off 12 balls, Deepak Chahar 31 off 17 balls and Umesh Yadav 20 off 17 balls to reduce the weight of the loss. India were without Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Arshdeep Singh. India had earlier won the series by winning the first two T20Is.
